How Is Energy Supplied When I Move To A New Building?

When moving into a new business premises, the energy supply initially comes from the previous tenant's provider. While the previous tenant should have notified their commercial electricity and gas provider about their move, it's crucial for you to contact the supplier as soon as possible after moving in and provide them with your meter readings. This step ensures that you're only billed for the energy you consume.

Until you switch to a new business energy supplier, the existing energy contract from the previous tenant will remain active. This means you'll have access to gas and electricity, but since you're not under a contracted rate, the supplier will charge you significantly higher "Out of Contract" rates.

To avoid these elevated rates, it's advisable to promptly initiate the process of switching to a new energy supplier and establishing a contract that aligns with your business's energy needs and budget.

What Are Out-Of-Contract Energy Prices?

When you move into a new business premises, you'll initially receive electricity and gas from the previous tenant's energy supplier. However, since you're not under a contract with them, you'll be subjected to exorbitant "out of contract" rates.

This situation presents an opportunity for you to explore the market and secure the most cost-effective energy deal available. You're not obligated to remain with the previous tenant's supplier, giving you the freedom to switch to a provider that offers the most competitive rates aligned with your business's energy requirements.

A change of tenancy doesn't have to result in exorbitant energy costs. Our team can set up your new energy contract before you move in or expedite the process on the day of your relocation.

By consulting with us prior to moving into your new premises, we can ensure your energy deal is activated from the day you relocate, providing you with competitive gas and electricity rates.

All we need is the address of your new property and the day you are moving, as well as your MPAN and MPRN if you have these to hand. This proactive approach eliminates unpleasant surprises when your first business energy bill arrives, offering you peace of mind.
