MPRN Numbers Explained

MPRN Numbers Explained

What is an MPRN number?

Meter Point Reference Numbers (MPRN) are 9 digits long and are used to identify the gas service at your property. Every MPRN number is unique and there will be one for every gas supply into every building.

What happens to my MPRN number if I move?

If you change suppliers, these numbers will not change and will remain the same as they are linked to the property. However, if you’re planning to move to a new property, then you will be assigned a new MPRN number in your new property as each MPRN is directly linked to the meter and property and not to the business or account holder.

When you move to your new property and agree on a new contract with an supplier, they will let you know your new MPRN numbers for your new property which you will continue to use, so long as you operate from and continue to require an electricity supply for your business.
